Global hydrography

Global hydrography by Lulu Jiang.

I build global hydrography that is complete, consistent and usable at its native 90 m resolution — from whole drainage basins down to every hillslope and channel pixel. I started FullHydro after my postdoctoral research and have carried it forward as an independent researcher near Paris: the methods, the code, the processing and the validation are my own.

The research is carried out with Prof. Huan Wu's group at the Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, which hosts and supports the work academically; Huan Wu is the corresponding author of the FullHydro papers, and Weitian Chen, Zhijun Huang and Ting Yang contributed to the FullBasin study. That paper is now in open discussion at Earth System Science Data.

I am open to opportunities in academia and industry, in the Paris area or fully remote. [email protected] · LinkedIn

A recorded talk walks through MERIT-FullBasin, and the companion FlowDex v0.1 code is released alongside the data.

Built on MERIT

FullHydro is built on MERIT DEM and MERIT Hydro (Yamazaki et al., 2017, 2019), the 90 m global terrain and hydrography foundation. We do not redistribute the baseline layers — dir, elv, upa, upg, wth and hnd.

Get those layers from the MERIT Hydro team; FullBasin supplies masks and the exact tiles to fetch.
